yay!

I have tickets to see the Eagles of Death Metal, who I LOVE.

I also have a mean hankering for some chocolate, and wish it were saturday in the worst way as a result.

on that note, I'm going to keep up the No-S rules, but I am going to toss out the calorie/etc tracking. I realized that when my calories end up a bit low, I feel elated, and that's not healthy or ok. when I saw today's calories finishing around the 1300 mark, I felt like high fiving myself, then felt weird about it. I'll finish with today and friday, and may do it on occasion, but as for the daily updates, no more as of this weekend.

the more I read about zero-carb, the better I think it is. I'm just saying. :) I'm nowhere near ready to take that step, but the more I read about it, the less worried I am about basing my diet mostly on meat. not that it's a concern, but everyone digs validation!

hmmmmm.

I am breaking my self-imposed "nuts only on the weekend" rule today. I realized I'm going to be, once again, doing a whole lot of running around with limited time for food preparation. I might not HAVE to do it, I have some meat in the oven right now (not a euphemism, HA!), but just in case. nuts are a better on-the-go option than fast food, imo.

and as I feared, seeing my calorie counts is starting to get to me. too many years of low-cal diet programming. that one day that I went over 2000 freaked me out! I'm going to continue on with it for the rest of the week, I guess, and see how I feel about it by the weekend.

breakfast:
steak
hard boiled eggs
coconut oil

*epiphany* - I like to eat nuts when I'm stressed out! today has been disappointing, annoying, upsetting. and it's not even 1:30 yet! today, I'm the litter box, not the cat. on that note:

(annoyingly, I feel happier after eating said nuts. they're still off the menu as snacks until the weekend.)

another busy day ahead. le sigh.

I think I should stick to meat and eggs for breakfast. I like the idea of a sweet breakfast more than I actually like the breakfast itself. plus, I should have not been lazy and made bacon instead of just having cheese.

the roti...well, my esthetician is a lovely Indian lady, and gave me a few fresh ones, still warm. they were potato roti, which I'd never tried, so I decided to have a couple of bites. they were delicious, but I stuck with the small amounts, since I now know what they taste like. I gave the rest to my best friend. :)

saturday

lucky for me, I woke up feeling queasy today, and it seems to be back a little. maybe the wedding food won't be an issue! hahaha! I probably just brought it on myself with worrying. heh.

breakfast:
2 oopsie rolls w/peanut butter and SF strawberry preserves
chicken

lunch/snack? (ended up being eaten pretty late, I'd brought the nuts to the wedding just in case)
toasted pecans & almonds
1 square of lindt 90% cocoa
1/3 chicken breast

dinner:
butter chicken
ham & turkey (deli style, one slice each)
roast beef
salad w/crappy caesar dressing
green beans
raw cauliflower & broccoli
weird cucumber/dill salad

small amounts of a lot of stuff! and all of it legal, except the dip with the veggies. it was dim, and usually it's ranch. when I got back to the table, it was a bit translucent, and tasted kind of sweet. so I ate the broccoli and cauliflower by itself. the wedding was really nice, and the reception was a total blast! and no worries about dinner, and I just stayed away from the desserts. somebody give me a medal! ;)

this is odd. when I re-inducted (can you even call it that?) last, I decided to do no sweets for three days. on the third day, I was dying for it. so now I'm trying to just do desserts (and any other sweet meal *cough*sugar free maple syrup*cough*) on the weekend only, and, ideally, not every weekend. anyhow...day 4, and I'm dying for chocolate. *shrug*

speaking of the weekend, I have a wedding to go to on saturday. this makes my palms sweat for two reasons:

1. I have nothing to wear (black dresses seem too goth for a spring wedding)
2. the food choices.

I suppose I can just resign to having a potentially off-plan meal, but I've been so damn careful. it IS on the weekend, etc, but man. I know butter chicken will be involved, I just hope it's not too rice-laden. because rice sucks.

hellooo, spring!

once the initial blast of alder pollen goes away, I can't help but be in love with the season. cherry blossoms are everywhere, you can smell the ocean and poplar trees, and the days are longer and lovely! makes me want to just be outside before summer comes and makes it too hot to stand it.

good monday...or is it?

depends on who you ask (don't ask the boomtown rats!). I had an excellent practice last night, but I'm a bit sore today. when I first started with the derby league, I'd be DYING of soreness after practices, like almost to the point of having to lift my legs using my hands. I'm on the referee team now, and much to my initial surprise...we work just as hard. short story long, I'm never anywhere near as sore after practice as I was before, and I'm bordering on being proud of myself for it.

derby endurance is a different creature than others. one of the players, who is in obvious excellent shape, has endurance problems at times. her usual position is Jammer, which is the most demanding, but she's a runner in her off-skate life. she was commenting on how different it is the other day. roller skating is like jogging with weights on your feet. I thought it was interesting. :)

anyway! enough of that. time for the foodstuffs.

pork chops (the super thin sliced, "fast fry" type)

orange pepper

I wasn't actually hungry for lunch. it's a well-ingrained habit to eat on breaks at work, and evidently I haven't broken that one. plus, I can't have snacks now, so that's that. unless I grabbed a handful of nuts and called it lunch. oh wait...I'm trying to only eat nuts on the weekend. hahaha! guess we'll see how I go with that one...

and I'm back!

the worst I did as far as off-plan eating goes is a few bites of bean casserole and two or three pecans off the top of a sweet potato pie during easter dinner. go me! I still feel overstuffed.

the weekend was a gong show of being too busy, and spending hours and hours in a freezing cold arena. now I have a sore throat! so excited! ;)

I made a big zucchini noodle lasagna, and am trying to eat it before it goes off.

oh, and I'm trying to cut out snacks.

I was going to get up early to see my doctor today about how over-the-top tired I am ALL THE TME. my neighbours helped me out by waking me up BEFORE 530 am. ye gads. then, I went to the doctor (in another part of town) only to find out that he's taken today off. jackass. so I'm pretty unimpressed with today so far.

happy april fool's day!

or not...hahaha! it was a waste of a day/gong show for me. which resulted in a less than great breakfast and lunch. I had to wait at the DMV again, all damn day, and forgot to bring snacks. by the time I got home, I was starving and grabbed the first low-carb friendly things I found.
